Our Cave Creek optometrist takes the time to listen to you and your concerns, thoroughly explain the results of your eye exam, and describe your treatment options. At Eye Care North we know that maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership. We consider your overall health in relation to your eye health which can be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems. We always encourage our patients to ask questions.
The eye care professionals at Eye Care North specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision - many of which do not have obvious symptoms. Dr. Julie Lam knows how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old. She understands the benefits and features of corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contacts.
Dr. Julie Lam enjoys all aspects of optometry. Her specialties include ocular disease management, dry eye treatment & corneal reshaping to correct nearsightedness in kids. Her grandfather was legally blind which is how she first saw the effects of eye disease on quality of life. She strives to maintain excellent eye health for all her patients & strongly emphasizes regular eye health exams and preventative eye care.
Dr. Lam was born in San Diego, California and grew up in Arizona. She attended Arizona State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude. At the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree and was also awarded honors for academic excellence.
Dr. Lam completed externships at the Center for the Partially Sighted in Los Angeles, CA, Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton, AZ and Southern Arizona Veterans Hospital in Tucson, AZ.
Prior to establishing her own office, Dr. Lam worked at a prominent optometry clinic in Sun City specializing in geriatrics and ocular disease. There she treated and managed eye diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Lam was inspired to become an optometrist when she was 14 years old after researching the profession for her high school Health Careers class. Her goal since that time has been to practice full scope optometry. She feels fortunate to have the opportunity to provide eye care to her family, friends, and the community of Cave Creek.
